Well it may be the same one. The only identifying mark I recall was a bad chip in the windscreen - pasenger side.

This is the point where you should tell how you did some blacktop doughnuts in that XT...... :-)

After 3 months of driving without music, I am sorted.

JVC KW-R700BT

Waited 2 months for the bezel and harness to arrive. Due to the numbnuts I ordered it from using eBay, could not be bothered to affix the paperwork to the parcel, causing it to be seized by Customs. After some phonecalls and emails and lots of time I got it delivered.

I like the 32'768 choices of LED and display colours so it can be matched perfectly with the rest of the dash lightning.
At the moment it is purple during the day, but switch on the lights and it becomes the same red as the rest of the cockpit.

My ASWC-1 module works well, so I can still use the steering wheel controls.
However, this was only after some modification as the harness that arrived did not have the 2 wires for the SWC (Steering Wheel Controls)

Only regret is after a day of using the radio, I realised it does not have RDS.
Oh well...

Yes, it has. And native support for iPhone and Android phones, but I have not tested these yet.

I could have gone for more upmarket touchscreen, reverse camera and the whole shebang, but I wanted to keep costs down as I am not planning on owning this car for more then 2 years

Cool, just bought the exact same head unit for my 06 SG. Like the bluetooth part. I do not have steering wheel controls. You can rename the radio stations to display the name of the station (imo the most important part of RDS).

F, did you use a harness or did you splice the wires?

I bought the ASWC-1 module through have2have >here<. It works really well. Just don't follow their instructions on connecting it!

The Manual naming is quite cool and I have used it. RDS is just really nice when driving in unfamiliar parts, but the rest of the functions makes it a really nice, affordable head unit.

I got them here:

http://www.gorillaoffroadcompany.com/product-detail.cfm/prd_key/31

A bit pricey for something you can actually make yourself, but my measurement skills are not something I would like to unleash on my car. Also, the quality of the screws and mountings they supply are really good.

@Bravofox,
I went and bought universal mudflaps from Partzone this morning.
I fitted them and it looks the part!
AND it was a whopping R73.00(for 4)
At that price I can almost replace them annually!!!
:-D

Looks good.
Mine is a company car, so I am first trying to convince the boss to get me the Subaru part.
If that fails I will surely go the partzone route.
