With my car being pretty much finished I'm busy looking at doing some various small improvements, so next on the list is DRL.

Those eyebrow park lights always seemed like a waste of space to me and could be better utilised as DRL.

Here is what I've ordered:

Details about  Auto CAR LED DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT RELAY HARNESS DRL CONTROL DIMMER ON/OFF 12V
http://www.ebay.com/itm/141515472822

The easy route would be to use a relay to switch the DRL off when you switch the headlights on but I want them to work like my 86's - bright when you switch the car on and dim when you switch the headlights one. This little box does exactly that:

The white wire is to connect to the headlights (or dashboard lights), when headlights or dashboard lights are turned on, the brightness of the LED daytime running lights will be halved

When starts the car engine, the DRL will turn on automatically
and When turns off the engine, the DRL off delay 12 seconds to let you reach your home.

Next up the actual LED lights. I was planning on using some commonly found LED strips but then I came across these and ordered both:

 Description:
Voltage: DC 12V
Power: 6W*2
Lumen: 600LM
Degree: 80°
LED Style: High Power Epistar chips LED COB, 84 /108 chips
Light color: White / Red / Blue / Ice blue
Silver frame
Shell material: Aluminum

600 lumens should be plenty bright . I'll test both to see which looks and works best. I'm hoping the 2nd one as the yellow COB led might not look as "OEM" inside the park light casing.

So now I'm just waiting for all the parts to arrive, with our postal service it could take 3 months...

The LED's arrived today and they're VERY bright to say the least.

What I like about the Cob LED's is the fact that all your eyes are seeing is a single bright white light and not individual LED's.
I'm still waiting for the DRL controller but I'll start installing these when I get a chance. Not really looking forward to opening the lights up again.

Project came to a screeching halt. The yellow just looks too cr@p inside the park lights so I've decided to rather look for suitable T10 globes...

If you find good led T10 globes let me know.
I have now gone through my 3rd set in just over a year.
Have tried local and imported, but they all look good for a few months and then start to fail or only work for the first few minutes.

Claimed 30,000 hours are very exaggerated.

I've got ones that seem to last in there now but they're not as bright as I would have liked. The biggest issue for me is usually the colour temp - they're almost always 7000k if they're cheap and if they're not they're 6000k which is also blueish. I've only once managed to get a 5000k T10 bulb and that was from a friend who can't get more of them.

I don't really mind 6k, as the blueish colour suits the steel silver of my car.

I would not mind the blue. The stock yellow was awefull.
I tried the ones from Violet electronics and they keep failing. Too hot me thinks.

2 things that are annoying me - the stock yellow bulbs and the park light enclosures going yellow from age.
I've tinted mine a light grey which helps a bit but I'm still not happy with it.

Jip, My wife's reverse cam has died after 3 years, now I cannot find the right one locally and getting one from China as before will definitely now take more than 4 weeks like before, thus not an option for my wife as she has become so used to it, she leaves it on even when driving forward and uses it as a second rearview mirror.

Mine looked like the ones you ordered, they lasted the longest at about 6 months, then started to flicker and then died another month or so later.
