OMG, can you believe it? This guy is actually linking to a pirated copy of the Engine Management Advanced Tuning PDF. Despicable!

http://www.ecuedit.com/engine-management-advanced-tuning-t766/page50

How can people give away stuff for free that others worked hard to put together?

Despicable. :D

Have you received your Tactrix cable/dongle yet? Does the SG9 need the two green block connectors connected to flash? I'm able to read without connecting them.

Not really interested in messing with perfection but still curious.

As far as I could see, there are no green connectors that can be jumped. I successfully connected just by sticking in the Tactrix OpenPort and selecting 2007+ Subarus as the vehicle type. I also learned that our foresters are Australian spec. I always suspected it, but the ROM metadata confirmed it's an ADM Forester XT.

I was caught with my pants down a bit because I reckoned it's going to take a good 3-4 weeks for the thing to get here, which would give me lots of time to actually learn what to do. Plus, I don't even have an O2 sensor yet.

I might copy and paste a few things from a Stage 1 91 Octane ROM I downloaded, put some octane booster in the tank for safety, and see what happens. The ROM I have doesn't have its timing and Boost set very aggressively, so it's a calculated risk.

Just to clarify: I'm not stupid, I'll copy everything that changed and give it a good looking-over for obviously stupid values before I actually flash anything back.

LOL yeah my cable only took a week from the US. The green connectors are under the dash, I'm just bit sure if they're needed for writing.

Download your ROM and try to flash it back. Or try a test write first. that should tell you pretty quick if anything else is needed. I thought only the JDM FXT's had those green connectors. But do a pull + write and find out.

Yep, they're definitely there just not sure why and it's bugging me. :D

Will ask Chett first, not really keen on taking any chances. Got some awesome results tjooning the 86 with some help from a friend in Aus.

While you're talking to him, ask him whether he thinks 1.6 bar is okay for the TD04. I'm a bit skeptical, but my Astra Coupe ran at that pressure without incident.

I can tell you now that it's not - from memory the TD04L can boost 1.3 max which would be way out of its efficiency range. I wouldn't push it further than 1.0 bar.

Cyberpuppy.

1.1bar max on the TD04. Unless you want to recon it every 3 months. Also you will need ARP head bolts, head gaskets and possibly forged internals.

Above that you might as well use a hair dryer... it will push more air :D

Im estimating power at 1.6bar to be around 220eish flywheel kw. Which is attainable with a VF35 at about 1.2bar boost.

I'm a bit pissed. I found a nice open source map I wanted to play with, but with the stupid boost targets I don't want to take the chance. The guy reckons it's a nice "conservative" map, but he's trying to make 1.8 bar at redline.
