Have been to Ashley and Romic.

Neither exactly world class in terms of customer experience and facilities but that;s why they're cheaper I suppose.

Romic used to be a Subaru agency if that helps...

Hi,

I know its an old-ish thread but are there any updates on possible alternatives in Durban?

I have a 120 000km service coming up in 2 months or so for my SH and I've been quoted +/-R18 000  today due to cambelt service.
It's a major service so perhaps giving it to the dealers (who hopefully know best) is worthwhile in the long run.

Anybody use either Ashley or Romic for cambelt service?
Thanks.

that is very expensive, what year model is your Forester, by the looks of your profile pic it should have the chain and not belt...?

also, phone Pietermaritzburg for a quote.....compare the two
Mine:

Sorry
Ordered one 6 weeks ago R452.00 excl vat
I forgot the air filter never replaced one on SH N/A say R400 to make up the diffs for the ATF Filter.
Should be less.
It is an estimate for being reasonable or not
Even R4000 on labor is a bit hard

Yes it is a 2011 model...thanks for reminding me... :-[ I'd forgotten that was one of the reasons I didn't get the 2010 one.
I did check the service book last night though and it has a "cam-belt service" marked with "replace" for the 120 000km column so a bit confusing.
I've queried that with Subaru (Umhlanga) and will phone PMB today.

Its AT but I suspect labour is the big one - they said it would take 2 days for this service.

Thanks. Will feedback later.
