Compared to the pd, she is really really slow. But she makes up for it at the pumps. Not that much better, but she is a little better and I have not been driving miss daisy. I dont wind her up, but occasionally ill cruise 140kph.

Since the Forester has a fine learning ECU ill reset it, so it can adapt to my driving style. The car seems pap till about 4500rpm and then it goes a little better (almost like VTEC)

Ah, shes a great daily though. Last night we stopped for a quick drink in Longstreet. The Dusty bumpers and gravel coverer wheels just gave her character. Sort of like an adventure bike full of mud. It makes you want to know, where they have been.

To me, the X felt a bit sluggish, cause I drive like an old man.
After playing catch up with the XT, it feels a lot nippier.
Mine starts pulling nicely from about 3-3500rpm.
Does the variable valve timing have something to do with that..?

It could be the VVT, but I doubt that the 2.5 from 2003 had it. Maybe the SG9...

Ill confirm quickly

The SG5 uses the EJ251 (126kw)and the SG9 uses the EJ253 (129kw) the EJ253 has VVL. Both are SOHC engines.

According to WIkipedia yes.

Im actually not sure if we share the same engine or not ( ADM Cars differ a lot for the USDM Cars) I cat see why they would not update the engine with vvt.

I think its from about 05 they started with the vvt,  but I thought it was 126Kw.
Other places I have read, they say 121Kw.
How much does a dynotune cost..?

a dyno run ( to see how much power you have) is about R150-R200

I wouldn't bother though, you will probably have something like 80kw up there in GP

The 2.5 is not a peaky engine, its a old Single over head cam that is suppose to give good enough low down torque. Ive looked for that so called torque, I cant find it! :P

I wanna see how much power I have lost  :D
I suppose the ECU flash for optimal performance isnt worth it either.
How much would one pay to get the ECU flashed for the XT..?

Depends who does it. Some guys can get a lot of power out of the XT. ( AKA Pyro Perfomance) They have a tdo4 WRX running 210kw that apparently ate STi's for breakfast. They have in the intrim, swapped the tdo4, for a Vf35 and now its making something like 240kw on pump fuel.

On Average, I guess about 180-190kw is pretty easy to get after a flash. Your biggest problem is the exhaust on your car. I know of another wrx who jumped 15kw just by doing a 76mm exhaust.

Have you reset the ecu before? It made my XT come ALIVE after I did it!

If you running about about 180kw, do you know what the torque figures would be Steve..?
Your PD was pushing around that wasn't it..?

How much would it cost to reflash..?

How do you reset an XT, Like the X..?

Disconnect ground
Push brake pedal till brake light goes out.
Leave overnight (optional)
Connect Ground
Start car with nothing else on like interior lights, headlights, radio, aircon.
Let it idle for 10 minutes

Then apparently do the "driving Miss Daisy' thing for a while
