I want to fit an Eazi Awn to my Forester. Does not need to be permanent fit. Anyone done this? Do I need the rack cross bars?

Dom, I'm also toying with that idea - specifically the batwing version.
I've got a steel frame for touring offroad, to which I could probably fix something like an Eezi-Awn.
I'll see if I can chat to them over the next few days (but they're probably closed until Jan...)
Current: S-edition 2011 Steel Silver (S-exy young thing) - Forged, Chett tjooned, 76mm s/s wrapped DP, King Springs, 225/60/17 G012s, Sump & AT guards, cheap mud flaps, HID fogs, LED parks.
Ex:        2.5X man 2010 Pearl White (Dirty Girl) - LSS lift, 235/60/16 G012s, Sump guard, HIDs and more..

Reviving this thread - anyone got the OEM roof racks that fit between the rails? How strong are they?
Anyone got suggestions of other bars that fit the rails - Thule etc.
Anyone got racks or luggage cage for sale?

If you have a SG Fozzie, you are stuck with Thule or Subaru for crossbars(roofracks), becaues our rails are closed, and that's a bitch.
Once u got the bars, u can do what u want. Just check the manual as to where to fit those bars. They are fairly close to each other, and fairly towards the back.
Damn. :-\

Have a look at this post:

http://foresterforum.co.za/index.php/topic,3258.msg34592.html#msg34592

It is a roof rack which I have built for myself.  You may consider the same mounting plan, it is simple and cheap.

I will post photo's of my diy cross bars later.
