Quick update for those interested,

The trooper has had a few changes made in the recent months.

At the Michelin Cup Event held Red Star Raceway, I had the unfortunate event of realising the limitations of the Yellow Stuff Pads.
Three laps into the first Session, I did my first propper Hot Lap and got 2.14
So I Pushed a little harder for the next one.

Now for those of you not familiar with Red Star, it was built as a motorcycle racetrack with tight corners that close in on you and almost straight away the next corner is on you. Great for motorcycles, terrible for cooling car brakes down between the bends.
That said, because of its motorcycle origins, the track has vast spaces of safe run off area. An amature Racers dream.
Making it a favorite for the car clubs and competition series as a venue for the occasional track day.

After not having enough time to cool the brakes down as we were running clockwise, I hit Corner 9 way too fast. Started to head on to the dirt on the right side of the track and over corrected and put the car into a sideways slide. Overcorrected again and sent the car sideways facing the wrong direction through the dirt for what felt like hundreds of meters.
The whole time I was just waiting for one of the wheels on the left to catch a divot and send the car into a roll, luckily it didnt happen.
The dust cloud can be seen at 3:23 in the above video

I was shaken up so nursed the car back into the pits, but had ZERO brakes. I had boiled the fluids and had stream pockets in the lines.

That Week PowerBrake sorted me out with a proper solution for the cars duty.
New RS discs were installed up front matched to ME20 Race spec pads
The rears got a set of ME22 Pads, and all this matched up to Endless RF650 Fluids

Then along came a set of Dark Blue STI injectors that needed their caps disposed of.
With some TLC and some 600 grit wet paper the caps had vanished, in they went and the car visited the Foughter for some loving.
I installed a dedicated switch for the E50, and Chett tuned her up to an astonishing power delivery and massive torque Output...
so much so that this happened...

SOCSA hosted a Kart Track Day at Zwartkops. On Launch i sheared the output driven shaft from the centre diff to rear Prop shaft.

3 weeks wait to get the parts in from Japan, and she is running again.

I am itching for the next event.

Proper times there dude! Redstar is a very tough track!

Drove it the 1st time about a month ago with the new Megane GT and it was very tight for a sloppy passenger car!

I'd love to spend a morning there to properly learn Redstar.

Make sure you have a catch can in the car, those G's must be something insane!

So....

For those still following this thread, The Michelin Cup event 2 was a RSR track day.
Everything was prepped and the car was ready for a day out on the track.

During my first session, I was having some fun warming up the car and finding my lines on the track in an ACW rotation.
I was pushing one of my Rivals around in a nicely modded S3 sedan.

6 laps in and disaster struck, an Oil breather pipe from the right-hand header had perished and torn, with the tight corners on RSR and the speeds we were playing at, most of the engine oil was pushed out of the opening. An Oil pressure had alarm sounded, and I backed off, but the damage was already done. The unmistakable roughness to the engine was there.

I nursed the car into the Pits and confirmed the worse.

Engine rebuild is underway with parts on backorder from the States.

She is being rebuilt to a 2.2 Stroker and getting some much needed upgrades to the internals and some.
More details when we have her up and running again.
