The 3.0 H6 is an awsome engine.
I was asked to do HG on it a while back.
The OB had 300kkm on the clock. Have not worked on a H6 before, so didn`t know what to expect.
Got a workshop manual and tackle it.
The Timing chain and sprockets where like new after 300kkm.
Sleeves where absolutely perfect, no sign of wear.
If you don`t drive it without water or oil it will go forever.

Gasket parts seem to be pretty cheap too!

I'm also considering an Outback or Legacy. Only ever heard good things about the H6 engines.

Its a bit of a mindset change driving. The H6 loves to rev and only really feels like it gets going from about 4500rpm.  It cruises happily at 100 or at 200.

So it's an NA engine then?  ;D

Unfortunately yes. Thought they respond very well to a little bit of boost.

Have read about 1000whp with standard crank and conrods boosted by twin turbos, build into an Impreza.
I think 0-100km was 1.8sec

Two TD04's would do nicely. And they're pretty cheap to source. Only real money would be management and plumbing.

I started upgrading the stereo... this is going to take a bit of work to get a headunit in there.

I'll be throwing the OEM rims back on to ditch the ricer look. One of my wheels were curbed, but my mate is handy and patched her. I'm actually impressed.
