So recently I decided I need a turbo Foz in my life.  Or rather an ad popped up that I could not ignore and I immediately knew I had to buy it.  So this is my new-to-me 2005 Forester XT.

The XT joins a couple of NA Foresters hanging out at my house (fiancee uses the facelift and I use the pre-facelift as a daily run about). The XT will replace the old XSel.

The first thing I did was to install a phone mount so that I can run the Torque app.  This is an old phone so will be permanently mounted in the car.

Next on list was the first thing I usually do on a Forester, replacing the cabin filter!  It seems like Subaru never replaces these during services so it usually goes unnoticed.  Replacing it results in a noticeable improvement in AC effectiveness.

Plans for the car:

Engine needs to be opened to sort possible sticky valve or rings.
Decat up pipe
Change exhaust
Fit Rally Armour mud flaps
Repaint wheels
Upgrade audio system
Gearbox & diff oil change
Detail car
Other minor maintenance items.

Still getting used to the increase in power so no major engine mods planned at this stage  ;)

Another item I sorted out was replacing the grill.  The original one had broken clips so was attached using cable ties.

Serviced the bonnet clip that failed to retain the bonnet

And sorted! Need to sort out the grill alignment though, its still not sitting square.

Decat down pipe Pyro Perfomance Decatted the downpipe
Change exhaust
Fit Rally Armour mud flaps I thought about that but you will notice that there are nasty gravel/dirt stains underneath the OEM flaps.

Looking great Divan! Im happy to see her at fellow Fozzie enthusiast!

 You are right of course!  I meant up pipe, corrected original post.

My plan is to do a wash > clay > polish cycle on it and see if it will help.  If not I will probably fit the original ones back to hide it.

Thanks Steve!  Really enjoying working on the car, haven't done it as much since selling the rally car.

Take off one of the front ones. They come off pretty quickly.

If you can make it work, I agree it would look epic.  Are you going to import a set of flaps?

I already have a set  ;D  I want to fit proper rally flaps, but need to get some material again.  Will then use the rally armours as a template.

Do you have an idea where you can source the material?

I know I can definitely get at ATS Motorsport but it's a bit spendy.  Looking for cheaper alternative.  I still have some points left with a motorsport company in Ireland so might get it that way.  I also still have some left overs from my rally car but the colours don't match so might look a bit silly.

Unfortunately I haven't had time to work on the car again, between work and preparing for a MTB race my time has been limited.  I am hoping to tackle some small tasks next weekend, including fitting the Rally Armour flaps.
