Went to Somerset West Subaru last week to have the trailing arm bushes etc changed as it started "clonking". (This at 83 000 km over 7 years.) But a lot of it was on gravel roads. The road to our hamlet is also nearly non-existing.
After replacement of the bushes etc there was still a sound. Front shocks was on its way out and needed replacement. :(. And this after only 60 000 km as I already swapped my SLS to 2010 XS suspension as the 2008/9 setup was feeling unsafe on gravel roads.
Sooo. Either new Subaru shocks every 50 000 km or upgrade  ::)

A few 1 000 bucks later and she now rides on Pedders heavy duty springs and shocks all round.
UPSIDE:
It lifted her just about 20 to 25 mm front and back.
Ride is much better with better cornering etc.
 Very stable on gravel road.
Should be much more stable when towing.
Load carrying should be far superior.
DOWNSIDE
Ride is a little hard. Think Ford bakkie, not as harsh as a HiLux.

I paid just south of 11 vat inc for  the 2 shocks and 2 coils at the front as well as the two complete coil/strut packs in the back. Then you must ad the labour and wheel alignment.
I know that there are Pedders agents in the North. Perhaps you can get it at a better price from them but I pressed a hard deal for the parts and labour as a package. The stabilizer links, stabilizer bushings and front control arm bushes with their fitting added another few thousand.
Somerset Subaru carries a small stock but can apparently get it within 24 hours from the Pedders suppliers.

Well, I guess some people's "few thousand bucks" differs from other people's :-)
Who did you talk to at Subaru Somerset-West to get this organised?

I spoke to Mark the workshop foreman. Marius was the mechanic that did the job. The sale was done by the Dealer Principal himself. (CANT REMEMBER HIS NAME.)
Had to twist his arm a bit. He only complained that the workshop charged me too little for the labour!. ;D

Danie supplied 4 kits.
As mentioned somewhere else I did a few grade 2 as well as part of a grade 3 - 4 tracks during January, no problems.
BUT I did hit a ridge on a bridge at a higher speed than recommended and it made my CD shuttle skip. I also had it bottom out at the front once on the road that leads to the "village" where I live. But again it was at between 60 and 80 where my speed should be 40. And yes. Even the Western Cape sometimes have terrible roads.
