So let me put down what I do and what happens, maybe someone can tell me what is wrong.

I open Openecu
I plug the cable into the computer and then the car's port
The blue light on the cable comes on so it is connected correctly
I have set the default vehicle to STi05
When I click on read from ECU the message I get is:

Using interface FT232R USB UART A4008TRU
[15:47:34.179] interface close
[15:47:34.293] unable to connect to vehicle interface.
[15:47:34.293] interface close
Is this not one of these Prodrive Locked ECU's that Dawie brought in maybe?

there were a couple of Auto's as well..... ;D

sold one in Cape Town.....Pyro did remap it afterwards though. Prodrive in SA does not really work well with our awesome fuel quality! :o :-[

Sorted.  8)
Installed an older version of OpenEcu. Funny thing is now that the older version is working I see that the latest version that I had installed lacked the buttons for Write, Test write and Compare to ECU.  Anyway installed ver 1.29A and it worked first time. I didn't even change the drivers for the cable as installed by the latest version.
