where can I get hold of a replacement unit? Anyone have a spare unit for sale?

I see it can be opened, can you not get an electrics place to see if it can be repaired? Might just be a blown capacitor, or something? We used to send our electronics boards away to a place to be repaired, at a fraction of replacement cost...

only 2 things can go on these units, either the seal is gone and water is getting in or the capacitor is gone and it switches off when getting to a certain temp.
I have just been through the exercise, order off aliexpress, you get a new unit for about R600 with the igniter cable, about the same someone would charge for a bad repair.

If you can, open it leave it in a dry place for a few weeks and see if it works again, if it does, seal it up with silicone and carry on

also before you fit the new ballast, you need to fix the sealing issue on the actual headlight or you are going to have the same problem again, there is water getting into your light from somewhere, Id suggest starting by putting it in the oven and splitting it and then re-sealing properly with new butyl (not silicone)
