Hi All,

I need my Forester 2.0L Diesel's Computer reset. It keeps telling me my Glo plugs are shot, but after thorough inspection and diagnostics - and almost forking out 6K for new glo plugs, was informed I need to take it to Autoelek to reset computer.

Who is the best in the Southern Suburbs (Cape Town) to do this sort of work?

Thanks in Advance!

Hi Again,

Im not sure if its a reset or a retune.
Reset is easy. Just take terminal off battery for a few hours.
Retune, there is a guy in Kommetjie who mostly works on Subaru. His shop is PYRO.
PS, R6k for glow plugs is very good price.

Are you sure its not your Diesel Particle Filter light? Its a common issue on the diesel Subaru's.

If so, you can disable that.

You can speak to:

Me too, but both terms are correct and sometimes interchangeable.
You can also take it to Subaru who will be able to sort you out. They also give good service, advice and pricing even though they a dealership.

The Dealers were the one's who told me glo-plugs are shot. So I took it for another opinion. Oh the Diesel Particle Filter light... fml I hate that thing. Gave me endless issues in the beginning. If I can disable, I'll give that a try.

Just getting my second opinions and some great feedback here before i'll make a decision.

Thanks so far for the help!

Was starting to post something here but decided against it.

Resetting that kind of "fault" on ECU could involve more that just "rebooting" the ECU on the newer cars.
I'm thinking that due to EU/USA "annual" check-up requirements, these "emmission" type of errors can't just be reset like on our "pre clean world" cars.

How i love my SG ;D ;D
