I still owe the bank quite a bit on this one.

Really looking to get an XS instead of the XT (Fuel costs!)

Anybody out there wanting an XT - spent a buck or two on it already and really can't spend more for the short or interim period - no matter how it breaks my heart.

Any interest and I'll load photos and specs.

2005 Forester XT Auto Premium (Black Leather Seats & Sunroof)
189'000 km
Silver

Services up to date, but not a perfect history  (including timing belt)
4 New Yoko Geolanders (-2000km on them) (R10k)
Refurbished Auto Box & Transfer clutches (Warranty till Oct 2018) (R40k)
Walbro 255 lph Fuel Pump
Decatted downpipe
Tuned by Chett Meyer.

Still goes like stink - and with a bit of capex and tlc it'll be perfect.

I would enjoy swopping this out for a manual/auto XS of similar year & milaege - or any suv/van for the space factor.

Having some issues keeping the maintenance and fuel bills under control - even though I bought her as a long term project for pleasure and tinkering - just do not have the time or money for it, and won't for the next few years.

Anybody willing to make a cash offer or negotiate a swop - would help.
Dealerships don't buy these cars (best offer was R40k for the car as is).

Currently I'm trying to source a refurbished power steering pump or a decent enough quote to refurbish/replace.

I'll post some pics - for now it's the one in the background. Rough around the edges with paint and nitty gritty dents - but still drives well and the engine is solid.

Realistically can you expect to really save on fuel costs?

My FIL has the 2.5NA SG pre facelift, i have SG9 XT, we both get exactly the same economy 10L/100 when we both drive like gentlemen

I've managed to settle the bank - awaiting the papers.
What were you thinking to offer?

Recently been serviced - redid the fuel lines.
Really need to get a fuel saver and we all know I'll lose if I take it to any dealer.

Some pics attached

What was your consumption looking like?

I was getting 280-320 km on 3/4 of a tank. 90% Urban driving. Very heavy but who can resist that boost when it's applicable?

ROTFLOL!! That's very good consumption. Selling a car like this to buy another old Subaru to save fuel is a bit silly.
2007 XT Premium Sportshift (Decat, VF48 @ 1.2 bar, STi TMIC, Chett tjooned, BBK, coilovers, etc etc eish!)

May the Forester be with you...

I'll return to Subaru when I can afford a 3rd and 4th car - that's what it seems to cost these days.

Depends I guess. My gearbox for example cost less than half of what you paid to rebuild - you just need to shop around.

Buying a second hand car for what you'll end up getting (around R60-70k I'd guess?) could end up costing you more in the long run, even if it's not as heavy on fuel. Rather the devil you know?

So update

ScoobyWorx in Pomona want R22'000 for a basic rebuild (incl new piston rings)

I'll let her go as is, currently stripped and ready for fun forged thingies and other Scooby related stuff - for R72'500.
You'll have to collect from Scoobyworx or have them repair/upgrade the engine of course.

Just been serviced (late July) with new plugs and filters, fuel lines in the engine bay redone as well.

Best offer I've gotten subject to viewing is R65'000.00 with the engine stripped.
