Had a crap day on Monday. Sustained damage to my dash and windscreen when I had to emergency brake for a !@#$/ taxi. Plywood shelf that was laying on the flattened passenger seat back flew forward and grooved the dash. Windscreen shattered.

Still upset I missed the lamp post in my blind spot. Dinged the left rear bumper and tailgate

For the dash and windscreen. Quote just below R35k. Parts just under R25k the rest for vat and labour. The windscreen must be made of Unobtanium because that is R13971 excl.

Tailgate job is R25k. R16k in parts the rest vat and labour.

Is this the norm?

For the sum of those quotes I wonder if they will write the car off?

That R probably stands for RACING, because it goes like the clappers

I have had National and PG windscreens. The PG was a little bit more expensive but seemed more resistant to chipping.
During my working days I attended hundreds of vehicle accidents. Some windscreens are scary!!!
