Hi All,
It seems that the Viscous Coupling on my 2010 Forester XS is packing up - issues with sharp turns when the car is warm, but not when cold.  I initially thought is was the CV joints, but it only happens when the car is warm, which seems to indicate VC.
Can anyone recommend a good gearbox repair place in Gauteng?
Also any idea of costs?
Many thanks!

Viscous coupling would be the centre diff. Not sure how that would impact on turning.
The rear or front diff would have an impact though.
Normally the front is an open diff, the rear might be a LSD, if you are lucky. I don't know what the 2010 model has.

Yep - difficulty/noises when executing sharp turns indicates the centre viscous diff assembly. The centre diff went on my Impreza GT in Oct 2013 (just short of 370,000km). The centre diff itself cost R3, 378 excl VAT and excl labour. While I was about if we did a service, overhauled the gearbox, and replaced the clutch. So the whole lot cost just over R30,000. All done by Subaru Somerset West.

I've had my box rebuilt by Scoobyworx last year when the front diff packed up. New clutch packs, bearings, etc. Cost R18k.

It's a Subaru, it doesn't take a lot of effort or talent.
