Hi All Im considering a purchase on a 2011 2.5 Outback with a Manual CVT.  How reliable are the motors and gearboxes ?
This one has had one owner and 101000 on the clock.  All Subaru services.

Oingo - it's either a 6 Speed manual or an CVT which is automatic.

both gearboxes are good - haven't heard of much problems with them.

engines are as good as you look after them. ;D

:o .  LOL - Ok Sorry man Im a bit new to the Subaru thing - This is the 6 SPD Manual 2.5.   I just be reading a bit online and they seem to have quite a bit of gearbox failures especially in the USA

In my experience since launch we have not had a failure on the Outback 6 speed box, this is of course in our dealership. However we sold very few manuals compared to the CVT, probably a ratio of 20 to 1.

agreed, the manual Outback was not that popular, however, never had any failures @Subaru CT either - not sure for the last year and half though.... ;)

I have a 2011 Outback CVT with 110 000km on it. I often tow trailers and do the odd off road course, as well as Mozambique once a year in thick sand. I have had no issues with it at all.
