Hi all. My 2008 forester (frameless window model) is getting moisture inside the left front headlight fitting. Anyone know why or how this could be happening and what can be done about it? This is a recent thing. Headlight not cracked or broken and seals all look ok to me. Light works fine on park, dim and bright. Thanks.

It is a relative common problem.
Go to the "search" tab on top of this page. Search for "Moisture in headlight."
Take your pick of the possible solutions and sealants.
Perhaps one of the members that have a really successful cure will comment.

Hi

In which area are you? I wouldn't even bother with DIY, just pay FozzieDriver to fix it for you and save the hassle and frustration.

Just re-sealed mine for the 3rd time.  I used the wrong Sika sealant last time, used Sikaflex 221, but it failed after the first rainstorm. Sikatack Go is recomended on the forum, but I could not find it in Witbank.

The bumper needs to come off to get the headligts out.
Search "Water in headlight", there is a link to a writeup on the first page.

If you have HID with ballasts, better reseal soon, as the ballasts sits under the lights, and can get wet and stop working. Not sure if your XS has HID

Thanks people. I'm in Hilton, KZN  - not the driest part of the world. I'll do the search and have a look. Otherwise I have a good relationship with local dealer so will ask the head much there.

Only way is to remove the light. Split it and clean all the snot and rust out of it. And then seal it with BUTYL RUBBER
Put it all back and you good to go.

Now is probably a good time to upgrade to H1 bi-xenon projectors while the lights are open. They're so much better than the useless stock things.
