I recently lost a tyre (sidewall cut) on a 2011 Outback 2.5 manual.

How important is it that all 4 tyres have the same diameter?

Should I replace all 4?

I would said yes, it's probably best if you replace all 4. How worn are the other tyres? If very new still you might be able to get away with only replacing the 1.

The "old" tyres have done about 30 000km.

Tyre shop measured the difference in diameter between old and new tyre at 3mm.

I'd definitely say you need to replace all 4 then.  :(

If I could not get a second hand one of exactly the same make and about the same mileage, I would buy 4 new ones.

Thanks,

Think I must install tyre pressure monitors too. Could have prevented the damage if I had them. :-\

Or maybe better option to rotate all 5 tyres so your spare always has same wear, even better if you have 6 ?
