So basically a year after me joining the forum i got my hands on an 07 XT.

It was a bit of an impulse buy but I enjoy it.

Only problem the car has is that it is surging from +-3500 rpm in 3rd 4th and 5th. Any advice to this?

Also looking at upgrading the front brakes, as ive cooked this set once allready.

Hi Jeandre.

Welcome. I am sure you will soon hear from the turbo owners.  ;)

Is it only the brake pads that overheated or is the discs also damaged?

Welcome

Could be quite a few things causing the boost surges
You should try and get to someone who can connect to your ODBii with sensors to see there is any errors

Ive got a Launch that can read most of the sensors.    I see its been decatted.   Dont know if they ever loaded a map to counter that.  You can hear the BOV open and close through the revrange.

Ill stick the launch on it and report back

So less than 3 months later I was involved in a bumper bash. >:(

The Powerbrake brakes worked well... A bit to well...
They drove into the Forester from the rear.
The quotes came to ridiculous amounts and it seems like the insurance is going to write it off.

Do i buy it back and fix it or do i look for another one is the question now.

I definitely dont want any other car than a forester!

depends on how bad the damage is. get the parts list from the panel beater, get the prices from Subaru and see what the parts alone will work out to - Panel beaters has a high % mark up on Parts.
Mine:
2014 Ford Ranger Double Cab
Honda Varadero

Hers:
2012 Fortuner 3.0D4-D 4x4...don't ask

Another issue is allot of panel beaters inflates the repair
Then they buy the car from the insurer and fix it and sell it

So take proper look at how bad the damage is and asses

Also take into account that the rear bumper and stuff sticks out allot
so you may have minimal damage underneath

remove bumper and check everything then decide
