2008 2,5X

Heard only when accelerating from a start, particularly if the road is on an upward incline, there is what can only be described as a soft, 'hollow' rattle from the front somewhere...sounds like a gentle, soft drum roll...then it clears! Nothing after that!
Very strange!
The sort of sound that one would expect to come from the exhaust pipe if it was touching somewhere.
Could it be something in the exhaust system? (Catalytic converter?)
Any thoughts before I take it into Subaru?

Your down pipes have metal heat shield

If it is not sitting tightly then it can do that

Thank you...well done!
I thought it sounded like it was related to the exhaust system somewhere.
Problem solved...and I've learned something!

I have the same problem. What is the best way to fix this, short of buying new?

2 ways
Either tighten the heat shields on the exhaust if need be by adding spacer below the bolts if needed (if you cannot just tighten it)
Or take them off completely
I removed mine
