Does anyone know of a used header tank (the little black one with a radiator cap, size of a man's fist with 4 pipes) Subaru Stealers want something like R1,700.00 (VERY EXPENSIVE TUPPERWARE) This part seems to be universal on turbo and N/A, also Imprezza?

RockAuto does not seem to stock it. Getting from Amazon and eBay also crazy prices!

Well you can try Rockauto
I see they list the coolant recovery tank for $11.60
VARIOUS MFR SU3014100 {#45150SA000}
Just check that it is the right one for you

You can get proper Fedex shipping for $32 or fastest for $57
So the cheaper delivery with parts should be less than R700

Then you can be taxed up to 25% and then at 15% vat on top which should all work out less than R80

So work on R800 and you should be able to get it :)

Yes, that's not the bottle I'm looking for. Mine is a little black one with radiator cap, called a coolant header tank.

Ok

What threw me off was that you stated it is on the NA models
That one is only found on the Turbo models

I see there is a few non OEM version available but they are not cheap either
You can maybe find out if you can get second hand one somewhere

Yes, therein lies the problem! I dont want to spend that amount of money on a import, nor locally available plastic unit. I've had a look and its muck more viable to modify a VW unit to do exactly the same job of header bottle.

Try Scoobyworks, Wayne Hay & Pyro. Scoobyworks had one a few years back when I needed one.

City Deep scrapyard also strip Subarus, but they are not shy with their prices.

I think the problem is that it is not a item that regularly fails so the costs is bad
And the better after market units costs about the same :(
