Greetings
I'm from Pretoria and my love/hate affair with the brand started in 2004 when it was time to migrate from D/Cabs to give my kidneys a break.
The choice was between a 2.4 Jeep and the Forester - Car did a test and that convinced me to enter the Subaru brand.

Started with a 2004 Xel (SG) manual, but 2 years later fell in love with a 2005 XT  (SG) manual after a test drive - best gravel road warrior ever! Last true hard core Forester model (if it doesn't have frame-less side windows it is not hard core!)

This was followed by a 2009 X (SH) manual - after 80k the drive-train whine drove me crazy and was swop for 2009 Legacy 2.5 GT - whata car, but is build for smooth tar and an overnight bag.
Next was the 2012 X (SH) manual - best off-roader with the  "almost" low range.

Skipped the 4th generation and 2 months ago became the owner of a 2019 (SK) Mountain Edition. Took me and the CVT more than 1000km to come to a mutual understanding, but now that we have found each other - it is a pleasure. Have to admit that I miss the grunt from the 2.5 especially with the bike trailer hooked, but is a pleasure on both gravel and tar with an extremely comfortable ride. The technology advancement is amazing, still getting to grips with the X-mode!

No serious issues over the years, however both the SG & SH manual models tend to develop a noisy release bearing when doing a lot of dirt!

Still love my "'Italian Japanese"  (reliability of a Japanese , but the temperament of an Alfa)

Looking forward to engage via the forum and in person.
