Steve, you need to drive it before you decide that.
The point of the car is not too have insane power but to be the best handling car built in the last 10 year, every journalist who has driven as agreed on this.

Also ;) the STI version will come with no turbo but about 187kW... Shhh

No doubt its a good car, but i cant see how it will compete (especially in Sti form) with the brilliant 370Z, TTRS ect (Im assuming it will be in that price range) It will definitely be interesting. I wonder if toyota will call their 86 the TRD  edition.

Still not exactly meant to compete against 370Z and the likes there of but with all they review of the car taken against 350Z, MX5, Genesis, FR-S (86) and new V6 Mustang, the BRZ still came out better because of what it is. A real sports car not just a performance car.

Toyota is rumored to be bringing out a Supercharged version with less power than the NA STI version.

exceeeeeeeeeeeeept that in reality and especially in Gauteng it needs a turbo.

Maybe they can get a better NA tune because it has direct fuel injection?
I remember my 118kw 2.0 Impreza was basically a detuned version of the 147kw version in Japan because they have 100 RON octane fuel.

I suspect direct injection makes it possbile to have a more aggresive tune without requiring a high octane fuel...

At the end of the day, even a good chassis and handling platform (MX5, S2000) Wont outsell the higher performance coupes due to what people want. Unfortunately that is straight line acceleration and power. When they have that, they complain its to heavy on fuel.

A fantastic handling car is still very limited on our roads, because there is nowhere except on the tracks where you can really drive your own car. So it comes back to outright acceleration and power.

Cant wait to see the BRZ locally. Even if it does not sell well (hopefully it does sell well), it will make it that much more exclusive. Im seeing waaay too many 458 Ferrari's lately.

SSA can correct me, but I think only 8 BRZ's are due to come to SA this year, so "selling well" is not quite the plan!! :p

I know exactly what you mean. However, for any business to make money, they need to sell stuff. I really hope the BRZ takes off like hotcakes.

Its about time Subaru gets recognized as a mainstream brand. ( I had a lady ask me if my  Subaru was a Nissan)

I've had people ask me if Subaru was Italian...
I have driven the car in JHB and it goes well. It would be nice if it had a bit more power but it is really enjoyable with the power it has.
Oh and Steve I will get you into one when the media cars are ready.

Got any room for ex Subaru owners/employees?? ;) :p

When I was talking to our mechanics, as I mentioned the other day, I had the Swedish question again - what is it with Subaru and Sweden??

Maybe if we called it a Sooberoo like the rest of the world they wouldn't confuse us with SAAB...

Looks to me like you want to come back. :p

We've been compared to SAAB in the past before, they also had good cars.

LOL, I would be back in a flash if I could actually make a living selling them! :p

Actually quite depressing for me, NOT being able to promote them any more! :(

I drove an XV in Centurion.
Dash is way better.
Didn't get a chance to play with the electronic gadgets, was more interested in the drive.
It felt sluggish, was expecting similar torque to my X.
Car only had a few hundred km's on it.
I wanna go test drive again, hopefully the car has a few thousand km's on it.

What is the average consumption for the XV..?
Some of you guys are getting pretty good mileage.

I would consider the XV if I were to downscale in engine size.
Or would that be upgrading in terms of everything else...?

If I wanted to buy an XV, would it be possible to drive say a demo for a week?
Just to test it going to work, testing the dirt roads by us as I stay on plots.
That would give me a better idea than test driving it for a few minutes...
