It was time to take her shopping - so she chose these new heels she's had her eyes on for a while...
;)

Yoki G012 - 225/60/17 - they're higher than the standard 55 profile.
Cost me a crapload, but combined with the Kings, she now has a measured 230mm under the lowest point (where the exhaust bends around the diff area).  Rear diff is @ 250.

I think she looks hot!

Hey Bravo
I got them from http://www.kingsprings.com/.
They have an online brochure (fronts & rears are separate products).  I remember for the SH they only have the "std" springs, but these apparently give abt 10mm lift, due to higher load rating (= less sag).  They cost me abt R6,400 for the set of 4, including import cost & local duties (which was abt R1,200).  Delivery was via cheapest (ship), took abt 4 weeks and got delivered to my local Post Office.

They do come in plastic-dipped yellow, but I sprayed on some primer and matt black.  The spray does chip off a bit, but if the fitters aren't too rough, you won't notice.

Thanks. Did you replace the shocks as well? Or did you keep the rear self levellers in?

It's my understanding the S-ed doesn't have self-levellers in (but I never checked 100%). Left the shocks in, as the car's still under warranty and the shocks are fine - no reason to change.  I'm also not going to load the car THAT heavily or tow a heavy trailer/caravan.  This was more for the occasional camping trip when loaded with gear and toys and driving on sand tracks.
The springs definitely makes a difference - the suspension does feel harder.

Sooo...today I took her for a bit of nip-n'-tuck...
Wayne will look at the following:
- DP & wrap
- colder plugs
- oil catch can
- rear camber bushes.

Then Chett will work on her attitude - put a bit of fire in her belly... ;D

Had a quick look at the DP...looks a bit like a spitting cobra!

I am very happy with the job they done. I have only 2 issues that is not that major.
The rich idle bothers me a bit, but fuel consumption is ok.
The de-catted down-pipe was not re-installed 100% correctly which causes the heat shields mounting holes to not align properly and thus not all bolts were refitted.

F5 ... F5 ... F5 ... F5 ... F5 ... F5 ...........

 ;D ;D ;D
so was I, Hilton, so was I!!!
I thought nobody had noticed me sneaking a post onto an old thread...

So:
The DP Wayne got me (not sure of the original source) is a one-piece s/s pipe that replaced both DP and mid-pipe/2nd cat.  Is a straight bolt-on, both turbo and exhaust sides.  Came with the O2 sensor bungs too.

As for boost, etc, I asked Chett for low/mid range torque as a main focus.  Haven't got before/after - will ask Chett if he has more details.

And I got her back an hour ago.
What's she like?
Wouldn't you like to know... ;)

OK, OK!!!
I've been in rush hr traffic, so no real chances to kick her a bit, but she's definitely a bit sharper on the take-off / throttle response, more driveable in traffic. So the torque curve is def coming in lower down and flatter overall.  I don't think my max gains are as noticeable as for the other XTs though (and yes, I was secretly hoping for more oomph than initially measured by the butt dyno).
The other problem is I've been driving the wife's scalpel tuned A3 this last week (what a jewel of a motor that thing has! - 170-odd kW in 1,200kg...)
Chett mentioned 11% more airflow across the range.
Perhaps Hilton & I need to get together to compare notes.  A bit difficult to do that too, because of my oversized tyres.  Going out of town tomorrow, will give her a chance to stretch legs a bit (although 80/100km/h zone only).

Oh yes, Chett lowered the trigger temp for radiator fans to kick in by 10deg (at lower speeds only) - a nice mod for offroading, esp with annual trips to Moz and a Botswana trip in the pipeline.

Cool stuff, should be interesting knowing what she's like on a proper drive. Do you know at what temp the fans are kicking in? Mine's kicking in at 95deg - I reckon 90 would be better.

The S-edition is already pretty potent so not really surprised that the gains are not as dramatic as the XT but I'm also sure the engine will be happier than before.

Last night used her to go out to dinner.  Took it very easy as the 1st 120km on the tank resulted in 17L/100km avg.
Despite SWAMBO's initial reaction, she said the engine actually sounds better - slightly deeper, mostly from inside the car.  There's less of a change from stock than I expected, since both cats are out now.
So today I got a few more butt dyno readings - both highway and a few squirts in town.  No actual readings of any sort.
I can say I'm much happier than yesterday.  She responds much quicker and so is easier to drive in town wrt taking gaps, etc.  I'm also pretty sure the in-gear acceleration eg 40-80 or 80-180  ;) is faster.  The torque curve is flatter, for sure, since acceleration is uneventful, but internal clock seems to indicate that for the same amount of time the loud pedal is floored, she now ends up higher on the speedo readings.
