Some of the serious of-road guys were very surprised, especially the speed it carried up the long dune.  Really love the place and its right on our doorstep.  LoopSoosStroop, hence the reason for ordering the sump guard and lifting kit... ;D

I have been looking around for a decent down-pipe for my XT.  I got a fantastic Bosal 76mm polished S/S system years ago for my Bugeye WRX from Bosul, so I phoned them trying my luck.  Apparently they stopped manufacturing them years ago and all their redundant stock was sold to a few guys around the country.

They put me onto a very nice chap named Roddy at Powerflow in Bellville.  He has a few of these systems left in his store!!  Down-pipes, branches etc. at great prices and apparently he can get more.

Before ordering I went to a local performance place here in Mosselbay to ask about mapping after fitting a system, and there on the shops wall, a full 76mm polished Bosal system!  Apparently also had it for years.  Having it fitted on Thursday next week, bargain price!

The mapping is a issue still though, don't know of anybody in the Garden route that can help me.  Spoke to Pyro Performance in Cape town, he can help, but its a 2 day job and a 800km trip there and back.  2 days in CPT without a car also not so fun  :-\

I know I will be experiencing boost spikes and engine lights after fitment without a map and this is my daily driver.  Any suggestions on a quick fix in the meanwhile before doing the whole Cape Town trip?

I want to get black plastic fender flares for my 2011 XT as pictured. I really like the look and am slowly but surely going that route with my car.

I have managed to track down the OEM part number and have contacted Subaru and got a price.  R4700 and a 5 week waiting period sounds a bit steep.

Has anybody found these from a aftermarket supplier or do I just need to bite the bullet?

I downloaded Tapatalk to follow the forum on my phone. For some reason when trying to sign in to the forum with my details, it replies with incorrect password.  I have used the reset password function, but no luck.

Has anybody experienced this, or can anybody help with advice?

Thanks for the insight.  I have gotten used to the gearbox, we get along better now.  Have found that keeping it in Sportshift mode helps with it not up shifting to 4th so soon, minimizing the slip.

Where can I get decent skid plate that can replace the plastic covers under the engine for my 2011xt? Went on some dunes and the plastic covers got a bit battered today..

I have never owned a auto Forester and few interesting characteristics became apparent with my first road trip in my 2011 XT. I would like to hear if these are standard or if I should worry.  The vehicle has done 71000km and all services has been done by the dealers.

Changes are smooth, downshifts abrupt when planting your foot and operation seems fine. 

My question is slip.  When using light throttle at speed and there is only the slightest incline the torque converter starts slipping. It is a constant balancing act on the throttle to get more torque on the road without the box shifting to 3rd while maintaining decent speed or heavy slip taking place. When it downshifts, it goes like a bat out of hell, only to change to fourth and start slipping again. 

It locks up again when you lessen throttle or when you approach higher revs (+- 3500), but this is approaching seriously illegal speeds. It also locks up on very light throttle on a level road.

Is this the norm, or am I just to heavy footed? I would love to use the motors amazing torque without this constant slip.

Your feedback would be appreciated.

Its good to be back in a Subaru after a 3 year break!  I got a 2011 Forester XT Auto in Satin White Pearl with amazingly low mileage (70000km) 2 weeks ago. 
I feel like a kid again and started acting like one as well.  I immediately had the two stock back boxes replaced with something more free flowing, a turbo Subaru should sound like one, and not content started stripping the front bumper off the first weekend of ownership.  I baked the headlights, opened them and changed the chrome bezels inside to matt black, and while I was at it, the front grill as well.

My love affair with Subaru started in 2004 when I bought my first, a 2002 WRX wagon in World Rally Blue Pearl with the obligatory gold OZ wheels from Mr. Bernard de Vantier at Subaru Somerset west.
Blew me away, especially after fitting a massive diameter polished steel racing exhaust system that was apparently imported by one of the rally blokes in SA.  Had to have it modified to fit the wagon, but that was just part of the fun.  A few clutches and tonnes of fun later I moved away from Subaru only to return again and again.

What followed was a 2007 Forester XT manual in Newport Blue, fitted with the Prodrive conversion but without the body kit, again from Mr de Vantier, this time from Barloworld Cape town.  Simpply amazing and probably my favorite vehicle ever.

In the mix was also a 2006 Legacy 2.0 GT manual in Silver,
a 2008 WRX Premium sedan in silver,
and a 2009 Forester XS Manual in a Gunmetal Metallic.

I am looking forward to reading some of the topics and comments on this forum and will be asking questions about the auto box fitted to my current XT.  Very interesting bit of kit indeed ??? ???
