Wheels, Tires and Brakes. / What Tyres for Namibia with 2014 Forester XT
« on: February 16, 2016, 05:29:46 PM »
Hi Guys,

I am doing a trip to Namibia (mostly on-road) in a month time, with four people in my 2014 Forester XT and pulling an Echo 3...

Brave, I know, but the one thing I am worried about now is tyres.

I currently have the factory fitted Bridgestone Duelers D400 on, and have never used the spare so still un-worn...

Now, do I replace it with 5 new ones, and if so which tyre would be recommended?
Would the Yoko G012 be a good tyre for a predominantly highway runner?

I also assume a good TPM system is needed for peace of mind...

Trip Planning / Groot Toren - McGregor

Has anybody done the Groot Toren route in a forester yet?

http://www.mcgregorvillage.co.za/accommodation/groot-toren.html

I am keen to go camping in the area and was wondering if other 4x4's would keep up?  ;)

General Chat / Dual Battery System
« on: March 24, 2015, 06:04:29 PM »
Hi Guys,

I want to fit a dual battery system in a hurry (next week or two), all in preparation for Africa Burn, any suggestions?

Current Options are a TMax system from 4x4 Mega World (Fitted) and the National Luna from Outdoor Warehouse (Boer-maak-n-plan DIY)
I want to fit it in my boot, with neat connectors alongside the existing cigarette lighter.

Cheers!

Introduction / Re-Born Newb

Good Day All,

Am brand spanking new to the world of Subaru and am totally sold.

I got a Demo FXT from Cape Town Subaru middle of August this year, and already have 3000km behind us.
Enjoyed every mm of the drive...

Also had a hard introduction to her sand dune capabilities, but still have a lot to learn.
Can't wait for the next adventure to start  ;)
