Wheels, Tires and Brakes. / Re: Which tyre to buy - 2016 Forester XS?

You can go to a 65 profile and it should not rub.
I use these Yokies:
They are good tyres with excelent traction both wet and dry.
The only draw back is the spare may not fit in the wheel well. And for this reason I have a compressor and tyre repair kit.

Friendly is as friendly can be...whatsapp is much easier and faster than the forum. Where/who do I contact to be added to the cape Forester whatsapp group?
You can join this group. It is the nationwide one.
Then ask there for the Cape blokes?

Sorry, I don't quite understand. I joined this forum to get/share info with all the members here. Why private messaging and a Whatsapp group ?
Surely this is the platform for all posts, and for all to see. ?

My initial question is what is SG, SH etc. Maybe there are other newbies that don't know what it means either.

Tony it is simple. I was reaching out to include you into the Forester community both Country Wide and locally.
The forum is no where near as active as it used to be and people have resorted to groups on WhatsApp and Telegram where the kind of info you are looking for is freely available. Very few folk visit the forum regularly.
It was also a friendly gesture, take it or leave it.
Anyway the SG and SH designation is, as Doug mentioned, the shape of the vehicle. The 5 and 9 refer to the displacement of 2.0 and 2.5 liters respectively.

Hit me up with a message and I will answer your questions.
And I can then add you to the Whatsapp Forester group.

Hey Fozziedriver
massive thanks for the advice.

you have more than tweaked my interest in the decat and tune

now if my scrolling through this forum has taught me anything it is that CHETT is the man to speak to

further scrolling tells me he is not based in KZN  :'(

next best in kzn?

or am i driving my S Edition all the way to Chett?
Come up for the weekend. We will decat and tune for you. [emoji48]

On the SH model your options are limited. Either a recon TD04 or a VF52. Both will be hard to find.
VF52 is similar to VF48 in terms of flow but has a different compressor housing.
Any bolt on TD05 will also not fit due to this different housing.

Try send pics?
What area are you in?

Hi Grant
Yes, the rumble comes from the back box. You can take your car to Powerflow if there is one there by you. They can put some nice boxes in and even keep the stock tail pipes I am sure. Although why you want to avoid the tuning route beats me. The stock maps and exhaust set up do not do these cars any favours. Too rich in some areas and too lean in others.
At a minimum you should consider a decat and a tune, as it sorts out the fueling and a by product is a few extra ponies and quite a lot of torque.
